Our Story

Kids Cancer Foundation was co-founded by Lula Wang and Sabrina Liu to bring comfort, dignity, and hope to children battling cancer. After losing a loved one to pancreatic cancer, Lula witnessed firsthand the emotional and financial toll of treatment. She founded the nonprofit with a guiding belief: no child should suffer alone, and no family should be left behind because of the cost or inaccessibility of care.

Lula met co-founder Sabrina Liu at the Junior Science and Humanities Symposium (JSHS), and together—with fellow young scientists and advocates they met at JSHS and the International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF), two of the world’s most prestigious science competitions with over 2,000 participants—they launched Kids Cancer Foundation as a youth-led organization committed to changing the future of pediatric cancer care through both heart and science.

At the core of the organization’s mission is the urgent need to transform how childhood cancer is treated. Alongside peers Lula met at ISEF who shared her passion for innovation, she helped build a research-driven team united by the mission of this nonprofit. Her innovation in cancer research is currently under a pending patent.

In addition to research, Kids Cancer Foundation focuses on expanding access to care. The organization delivers toy care packages to hospitalized children and runs international donation drives, especially in underserved and developing regions. It also uses custom software and internal databases to match donors with hospitals, manage resource distribution, and reduce treatment costs—ensuring that support reaches the children who need it most.

Today, the founders and volunteers of Kids Cancer Foundation continue to dedicate their efforts to supporting young cancer patients—driven by science, strengthened by compassion, and united by a shared commitment to equity in care.
